Humboldt is home to some of the best people I have ever known.
Have you ever really wanted something that didn’t happen right away? Or not at all? A new house, a new car, a new baby might all be something we have wished for at different times. In our “instant” world, we have become accustomed to immediate response, whether it is a phone call, text, changing the channel or microwaving popcorn. Our patience can be pretty limited, because, “we know what we want, and we want it NOW!” A lesson that our family has learned, on more than one occasion, is that when a project is road blocked, it is frequently for the better. For example, we planned to renovate and add an addition to our then-home 5 years ago. We had a designer create plans and sent them out to local contractors, seeking a quote. The response was NIL! Not one contractor was available to even quote our project, never mind complete the work! We learned that most contractors would rather build a new home than renovate an existing building. We had the vision in mind and were excited to have more space for our family and a garage to store our vehicles. But, we had to wait.
