Happy Trails to You
Over the course of a year, I spend a good portion of my time running. No, not hustling around driving kids to activities, or scrambling to get to a meeting – though that happens too. I mean actually putting one foot in front of the other and running. Why do I run? It “feeds” many needs in my life. Improved health and fitness is an obvious one, but its more than that. I am lucky to have friends who run as well, so we go together and visit as we cover our route. On other occasions, it gives me time to myself to think and plan (which has been really helpful as Prairie View Properties has evolved and the vision emerged). Running has also become a family activity as I coach my daughters' cross country team and I run with my daughters for fun. And last but not least, running also allows me to use my competitive nature as I race in events 4-6 times a year, and have seen beautiful destinations as a result.
As we have envisioned and planned Prairie View Properties, I have thought about what would make the “Perfect Place To Live”. One feature that is lacking beside or near our current home is trails. With all the time I spend running, I often think of how nice it would be to have access to a proper recreational trail, away from traffic hazards and noise. The perfect trail would have views and vistas, with trees that attract birds. It would have beauty, but also a purpose: to link neighbours and to have easy access to community features. Thankfully, there are no shortage of resources to help understand trail development and what potential trails have in a community.
Well, this lovely vision has become a reality, as almost 3 kilometres of recreational trails were built at Prairie View Properties! Is build the right word? Yes, it is, because for the majority of those trails topsoil was excavated 6-8 inches, filled back in with clay base, then topped with gravel for a durable, long term trail surface. I truly believe that this investment will add great quality of life to the future residents of Prairie View Properties. Visitors to our site’s trails are quick to comment, “It’s so quiet and peaceful!” Each acreage property in Phase I is connected to the trail system, giving easy access for all who live there.
Even if you are not a runner, recreational trails offer:
- a place for foot or bike exercise, away from traffic hazards
- a peaceful place to enjoy the beauty of the prairies and nature
- a way to allow your kids or grandchildren freedom, still knowing where they are
If you have never had a chance to explore our trail, let this be your invitation to come to Prairie View Properties and see what you’ve been missing – happy trails to you!
